Former Liverpool and Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge has been released by Perth Glory after appearing for just 138 minutes during an injury-blighted spell.

Sturridge joined the A-League side in October to much fanfare in Australia but has failed to make an impact, starting just one of the six games he featured in for the club and failing to score a goal.

Perth endured a terrible A-League season, finishing bottom of the 12-team table after picking up just four wins in 26 games.

The Glory were Sturridge’s first club since he was released by Turkish side Trabzonspor in March 2020, shortly before he received a four-month football ban for breaching betting rules.

Sturridge’s best ever season came in 2013/14 when he netted 22 times in the Premier League as Liverpool came within three points of lifting their first top-tier title since 1990. He has also earned 26 England caps over the course of his career.
