You are mentally safe when the focus is on the music rather than the Grammys – Diana Antwi Hamilton

Diana Antwi Hamilton, a Ghanaian music sensation, believes it is better for musicians’ mental health when they focus on their music rather than the Grammys.

“We do anything humanly possible to surpass ourselves and then we leave the rest to God because when it happens, it happens. If it doesn’t happen it’s not our time. If you have that mentality, you’re safe and don’t care what happens. If it doesn’t happen then there’s another time”.

The 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Artiste of the Year made the remark following the announcement of the nominees for the 65th Grammy Awards, which will be held in February 2023.

The list of nominees has sparked public debate, and rightly so, about why and how only Rocky Dawuni appears to be receiving recognition from the prestigious award while the ‘big artistes’ always miss out.

She saw this culminate in some pressure on the musician to release songs without proper planning.

The Gospel Artist of the Year told DJ Reuben on Drivetime on LUV FM in Kumasi that she is not under pressure to release hit songs and instead trusts God to “do His mighty works.”

The pressure on her, she says, is the clarity and authenticity of the message she preaches in her songs, as well as hiring the right people.

Diana Hamilton has been a solo artist for approximately 16 years but has been involved in the music industry for approximately 30 years.

“… every step she took, every corner she entered, every disappointment she faced, every door that was shut, every opened door, every joy, and every cry have all been part of the ingredients that have made me who I am today,” she said.

Diana Antwi Hamilton has released a new single titled “my meditation,” which is quickly becoming a radio DJ favorite.

The song preaches about the importance of giving thanks to the most high God.

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. (Psalm 19:14). It is available on all streaming platforms,” she said
