Last week, the president of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo addressed the nation on the update of COVID-19 in the country. During the address, he made mention of many things and also gave relief to Ghanaians in terms of utilities

During his 7th address to the state on Sunday 19th April 2020, the president said, the country will help Africa to be able to manufacture and get a vaccine as the scientist from KNUST have disclosed how the virus works and the committee to help come up with the vaccine will be chaired by Noguchi memorial institution.

There was a need for a lockdown in the affected areas to be able to manage and contain the virus. In view of this, there was the implementation of two weeks lockdown within Accra and greater Kumasi, later, some newly affected parts of the country were added.

Last week, the president extended the lockdown with an additional one week which ends on 21st April 2020.

Today, with the executive power invested in the president, the partial lockdown has been lifted up from Accra and Kumasi but doesn’t mean measures and care would not be observed.

This means people within Accra and Kumasi are free to go back to their normal duties starting from Tuesday 21st April 2020.

Nonetheless, commercial buses and ban on social gatherings remain the same, as well as international flights.

Finally, despite the upliftment of the lockdown, he pleaded with Ghanaians to observe social distances and be cautious of their movement.
